Many people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that improve the mind, such as reading and doing word puzzles. Others feel that it is important to rest the mind during leisure time. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.

Today we live in a fast-paced world. Time is moving so fast that sometimes we are not aware how time has passed. We are brought up to believe that “Time and tide waits for no man” and hence everyone is running a mad race to achieve success in the shortest time possible. We are all looking shortcuts to reach the top of the ladder. This hectic pace and desire for success at any cost leads to stress and nervous breakdown. Therefore it is necessary that will take time off to rest the mind.

Time away from work and household chores, when we have nothing to do is called leisure time. Different people have different opinions and view on how they would like to utilize this spare time of theirs.

Some people belief that when they are free and have nothing to do, if they don’t occupy themselves then may be the devil would use them as his workshop for executing not so pleasant deeds. Others think that they are already so stressed out and that their minds are taxed to such an extent that they don’t wish their mind to be engaged in any thought process and thinking that they need a total mental cut off preferred to do nothing but lie down shut their eyes and transport themselves into another world of peace and serenity.

There is no doubt that getting engaged in solving puzzles or reading book does stimulate and sharpen the mind but may be this would seem if the mid being taxed again. May be to some this may be an activity brings them joy and peace of mind.

There are a number of people who believe that the best way to distress is to listen to soothing music, spiritual music, or may be to meditate. Therefore, I am of the opinion that sometimes spending leisure time by solving puzzles, reading books, listening to music or watching movies could be a stress buster, but sometimes it becomes necessary to completely shut off the mind and just transport oneself into a world of nothingness, but play in simple peace and quiet.
